KH3D Incorporation Ideas

This is more me posting this here so that I don't lose track of it (right now as I'm typing this this info is mainly in a plurk paste).

Keep in mind that NONE OF THESE IDEAS ARE SET IN STONE. They probably won't be until we get the official translations so we can be sure we know what we're talking about.

Also some of it is already out of date. I will try to update it with the ideas Kari and I discussed over AIM, but I might miss some things.

EDIT: Okay so this is horribly unorganized I am sorry I will probably just make a new post at some point to organize this all. I like keeping old notes even if they're not valid because sometimes there are ideas that can be re-woven back into the story at large. The table at the bottom is still relevant though.

-------------

So. The original "arc 2" of Lost Hearts was going to be a sort of alternate KHII, except KH3D spoilers made me realize that KHII was totally redundant in Lost Hearts-verse.

At the end of Lost Hearts, Kingdom Hearts is completed and the lightside already knows as much as they did by the end of KHII, plus some. KHII's ultimate purpose, plotwise was to figure out the Organization's/Xemnas' goal - complete Kingdom Hearts - and stop it. So. Yeah. no real point.

So... at this point it's pretty much a given that Arc 1 of Lost Hearts ends when Sora wakes up - on the same day Kingdom Hearts is ALMOST completed. Arc 2 will begin immediately afterwards, and while there may be some interim events... it will progress quickly towards Mark of Mastery Exams. Even though DiZ stops Kingdom Hearts from being completed, Yen Sid believes that he's enough of a threat that they need more keybearers with Master rights and privileges and powers to adequately combat him.

Aside: Scene I have plotted out in my head:

Roxas and Xion and Aqua go to see Yen Sid as per Mickey's instructions. Even with KH taken care of, it was too close a call and they need Keyblade masters to combat how much of a threat Xemnas/Xehanort is becoming. But. Looking at Roxas and Xion - for multiple reasons - he's skeptical that they're ready for a MoM exam. And Aqua just stands behind the two of them, puts one hand on Roxas's shoulder and one on Xion's and is like "These two are my students, and I know they are."

Which brings ups to Arc 2 itself: Five way Mark of Mastery exam. Because Roxas, Xion, Sora, Riku and Kairi will all be eligible. So. That'll be fun. A nightmare to plan but if it can be pulled off... It'll be amazing.

Anyway. At this point, it's kind of up in the air how much of KH3D I/we ultimately want to include, though... I don't really see why we can't include most of it - if not all. Going back to something I commented in a plurk of mine though - when interfering with MoM exams, I noticed that it always seemed to be YMX, along with one other Xehaborg, specific for each person.

In KH3D, Riku is often antagonized by Ansem SOD + YMX, while Sora is antagonized by Xemnas + YMX. In LH, it gets a little more complicated with FIVE people. I mean, especially considering there are only four known Xehaborg besides YMX and Master Xehanort himself.

Since neither of the latter two are quite eligible, it would've meant that someone would have had to double up. But then I realized: they might very well leave Kairi's Mark of Mastery exam alone, aside for a couple token attempts at interference, because part of the mindscrewing that they're doing is to try to open either Sora or Riku up for vesselhood. Kairi is a Princess of Heart - a sure bet for one of the Seven Lights. She's not going to be a vessel. So there's little reason for them to interfere with her MoM exam at all, unless they don't want her getting Master rank, which is what would prompt the token attempts at interference.

So. That just leaves Sora, Riku, Xion and Roxas.

Now, in KH3D, it was pretty clear that the Xehaborg were targeting Sora over Riku. Whether that's because it was clear Riku pretty resistant or they actually wanted Sora, I'm not sure. I need to re-check over the translations for that section. I'm inclined to think they had their eye on Sora though - it's the assumption I'm operating under, at least.

That... hasn't changed in Lost Hearts. I have a fairly clear idea who I think they'd target. Sora is still their primary target. Xion is actually next on the list - they believe her programming would make her easy two wipe back to a blank slate and therefore prime vessel material. Roxas is third, I think. Roxas and Sora seem to be vying for first place - Sora has his ignorance making him vulnterable, but not nearly the emotional baggage in his heart to create weak points. Meanwhile Roxas has developed the sense of self that disqualified him as a Nobody, but he has a lot more recently inflamed weaknesses to exploit (he might also have Ven's heart). Xion is third because she's dealt with a lot of her baggage, so that dream mindscrewing actually will have much less chance of succeeding (HOWEVER she will probably be one of if not the biggest in danger back in the real world once we start getting into Arc 3 for the very reasons I initially thought she was second). And Riku is still last because of dat darkness resistance.

I might fiddle around with Roxas's placement on the list... I could see his emotions making him manipulable... :|a IDK Going to ask Mala if she has any ideas/opinions on the subject. Along with thoughts on the next one:

... matchups.

Like I said. The MoM interference I saw was YMX tag-teaming with a specific Xehaborg for mindscrewing - specifically a Xehaborg with connections to the mindscrew-ee. Riku still gets Ansem SOD. Xion gets Saix, because it would be awful. Sora and Roxas are who I'm unsure about. Sora doesn't have the connections to Xemnas that he does in canon. Then again he doesn't have any major connections to Xigbar either. In either case it would be "oh... so I have two strange people come here trying to mess with my head" UNLESS Sora has any run-ins with one or the other or both during any events inbetween Arc 1 and 2. Which might work. Roxas, meanwhile, has more personal interaction with Xigbar, but it's not quite as antagonistic as his interaction with Xemnas. I think. It's the impression I got anyway.

Another issue?

I mentioned that Sora is still the main/prime target in LH Arc 2. But the problem is without heartchildren suffering inside him, a lot of the Xehaborg's mindscrew fodder is missing. I have an idea for how we might be able to compensate for that... It involves another idea I'll get to later. But essentially, the only other heart Sora has inside of him is Ven's, and possibly not even that if Roxas has Ven's heart. So.... actually i wonder if Roxas might not be the Xehaborg's primary target. :|a

As for what the outcome of Arc 2 will be? ... I have no freaking clue.

I DO get the feeling that the Xehaborg will discover Ansem's tampering with Xion's programming. And by "tampering" I mean "here is a firewall only I can get through now gtfo." Kairi will likely become a Master. Riku will for sure. Sora, Roxas and Xion... :|a Up in the air. There... probably would be interventions at the end of it like there are in KH3D. Mickey will probably get involved and Aqua WILL be getting involved in a very "I'M BACK BITCHES" way. Bonus points if none of the Xehaborg have realized she'd escaped the Realm of Darkness.

Now... like I said, a lot of Sora's mindscrew fodder is missing in Lost Hearts. There might still be some room though, if he isn't fully aware of heartchildren's existence. Xion and Roxas will likely be starting their MoM exams earlier than the DI Trio. Because essentially, when KH is completed they'd go straight to Yen Sid, because of Mickey's instructions. Meanwhile, Riku and Kairi would be there when Sora wakes up and then they'd help him for a little while, while Sora gets used to being a 14 year old in a 17 year-old's body. And I can imagine Riku and Kairi being like "Xion and Roxas should be the ones to explain who they are and their role when they're ready."

So if that were the case, when they got to Yen Sid's a little later and start their own Mark of Mastery, Sora may not know about heartchildren yet. They wouldn't have realized how much of an issue it'd be. I think. Twi had some good ideas about them trying to shake Sora's trust in his friends - keeping secrets, picking others over him, etc. ("Others" being Roxas and Xion)

Plotholes that need to be filled/explained, though:

re:coded - I had an idea of sticking the essentials of it in at some point during Arc 1. At least the connection between Sora and Ven - and via that, the BbS trio. I could easily see it coming up, given Roxas' resemblance to Ven. re:coded is (sadly) being skipped. Birth By Sleep is now represented in Lost Hearts.

The other Organization members: I am. Unconvinced that ALL of the Org XIII members were meant to be Xehaborged. So. What happens to Xaldin, Demyx and Luxord? :|a

TENTATIVE PLAN: Xemnas doesn't really care about the "spare" Org members. He'll likely try to turn them into dusks then kill them off. They might escape? :|a

There are also characters who are present who aren't in KH3D who might have an impact on how things turn out. Namine and DiZ, specifically. DiZ is no longer an issue.

... actually, if we find out about the events of re:coded in Arc 1... It's possible Riku and the Days trio - when they have the chance - might be able to look for Aqua in the Realm of Darkness. ... :|a Which would mean she would be back before Arc 1 was over, in theory. However, if this throws too much of a wrench in plans, I could just say they weren't able to find her. Realm of Darkness is pretty big. This is a thing that is happening now.

Back on track though, I'd like for Namine and DiZ to have some role. Namine especially. DiZ I'm okay if he just fades into background. (Ask Bun for ideas?)

As for Axel? He is totally going to come back on their birthday. And if he's early? He will wait. Just so he can troll surprise them. Congratulations, Xion, Roxas! You aren't going to be Xehaborged and your best friend is in fact, alive! 8D BEST BIRTHDAY EVER.

Oh and he also has a heart and a Keyblade now. Feel free to gawk about that.

EDITS AFTER TALKING WITH MALA:

- Because of Axel's death, Roxas is probably going to be dealing with a lot of anger and sadness he dealt with in canon but hasn't been able to in Lost Hearts owing to Axel telling him the truth back on Day 352 and being able to save Xion.

- He and Xion are going to have a self-blame argument, and eventually they end up agreeing to not blame themselves if the other doesn't blame themselves either. Roxas at this point turns his blame and rage on the Darkness instead, developing a hatred for it. (idk yet about Xion)

- This anger is going to make him much more vulnerable than he might have been otherwise during the Mark of Mastery Exam, and is a big (though not the only) factor in him likely being the one who is ultimately chosen

- During the Mark of Mastery Exam, the Xehaborg target all three of Roxas, Xion and Sora, trying to see who will crack first. Xion is probalby going to fake them out by almost cracking then ultimately not.

- Multiple people may end up falling to darkness. Everyone who does fall to darkness will not pass the MoM exam since I think that's why Sora failed.

- Roxas is going to try to punch Axel when he comes back on their birthday.
